Exploring and capturing energy in my images is essential in my paintings. Everything vibrates with life, at all different levels. The changing light on the surface of the painting is continuously transforms the image. Gardens, flowers, landscapes, seascapes are all expressions of changing light and energy through vibrant color combinations.
The palette knife application of oil paint creates an Impressionistic style of painting, with the paint surface creating a light reflecting varied paint surface. The thick application of paint stokes results in a physical surface changing with the passage of light during the day and night. The mixture of acrylic paint with gold leaf overlaid with oil paint accents is an exploration of light effects. These techniques explore light as an added dimension to the painting surface, creating the illusion of energy and life vibration.
